ISSEY MIYAKE X ALAIN MIKLI 2000 FOLDABLE TITANIUM SUNGLASSES WITH DISK CASE

ISSEY MIYAKE X ALAIN MIKLI 2000
FOLDABLE TITANIUM SUNGLASSES WITH DISK CASE

Issey Miyake sunglasses designed in collaboration with Naoki Takizawa and Alain Mikli. The beginnings of the concept were directed towards the functionality and folding of the frame, making it compact and easy to carry. Once the mechanical and technological aspects of the frame were developed, the glasses began taking the form of a more conceptual vision, that of a dragonfly. The glasses became folding wings and panoramic eyes, the temples the body and structure. By extension the box became the cocoon. The extremely unique design went on to gain the sunglasses European Award of Packaging Design 2001, for box design, conception and development.
